Wendy
Benson, MBA has two decades of experience in the in-vitro
diagnostics industry at key companies such as Genetic Systems, Johnson
& Johnson (Ortho Clinical Diagnostics) and Roche Molecular Diagnostics.
She recently joined HX Diagnostics, a new company focused on pandemic
preparedness, as Vice President of Business Development and Marketing.
Wendy is an active member of the American Association of Blood Banks
and has also worked with the International Society for Blood Transfusion.
Suzanne Ledin was a friend and mentor to Wendy early in her career
-- teaching her the fundamentals of true customer service as well
as leadership and management philosophies. |

Mike
Busch, MD PhD, is Director of Blood Systems Research Institute
and Vice-President for Research and Scientific Affairs of Blood Systems,
Inc. (BSI), a national network of over 20 blood centers throughout
the United States. He is an Adjunct Professor of Laboratory Medicine
at the University of California, San Francisco. He is a member of
the Transfusion Transmitted Diseases Committee of the AABB, the Medical
and Research Advisory Committee of the Canadian Blood Services, and
a former member of the US DHHS Advisory Committee on Blood Safety
and Availability and the FDA Blood Products Advisory Committee. He
is an Associate Editor of Transfusion, on the editorial board of Transfusion
Medicine and the Journal of Human Virology, a reviewer for many other
professional journals, and serves on blood-related scientific advisory
panels for certain commercial manufacturers. |

Sally
Caglioti MT(ASCP)SBB is Vice President of Laboratories for
Blood Systems of Scottsdale, Arizona. In that role, she is responsible
for blood donor testing laboratories in Arizona and Texas and the
infectious disease, histocompatibility, hematopoietic progenitor cell,
and immunohematology reference laboratories. Prior to joining Blood
Systems, Calgioti was Director of Technical and Educational Services
at the Oklahoma Blood Institute.
Caglioti has been a member of the American Association of Blood
Banks (AABB) since 1978. She has served on the Board of Directors
from 1998 to 2006, on numerous AABB committees and has participated
as faculty in many AABB and state blood bank association educational
programs.
As a member of the Americas’ Blood Centers (ABC) and South
Central Association of Blood Banks (SCABB), Caglioti has volunteered
on a number of committees and task forces for both organizations.
She co-chaired the ABC Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT) Task Force that
led the development and implementation of blood donor NAT in ABC
facilities nationally. She received the ABC Thomas F. Zuck Lifetime
Achievement Award in 1999 for her leadership on this task force.
Caglioti received her Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology
from Gannon College in Erie, Pennsylvania. She completed her Specialist
in Blood Bank (SBB) technology training at Central Blood Bank in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She resides in Carefree, Arizona.

Rajen K. Dalal,
MS, MBA, has been a corporate vice president and president of the
Blood Testing division at Chiron Corporation. Under his leadership,
Blood Testing became the company’s fastest growing and most
productive division, with revenues exceeding $300 million. Also at
Chiron, Rajen was VP, Corporate Development and led post-merger integration
initiatives, corporate-level joint ventures, business collaborations,
and technology licensing agreements in drug discovery, biopharmaceuticals,
vaccines and gene therapy. Prior to joining Chiron, Rajen was a leader
of McKinsey & Co’s pharmaceuticals and technology management
groups. He is a board member for Sagres Discovery, an oncology biotechnology
company; Ciphergen Biosystems, a proteomics company; serves on the
advisory board of Outward Bound West; and is a corporate member of
the Bermuda Biological Station for Research. |

George
Garratty, PhD, FRCPath. was Scientific Director, American
Red Cross Blood Services, Southern California Region, Pomona, CA,
and Clinical Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the
University of California, Los Angeles at the time of his passing in March 2014. He also directed the Red Cell
Reference, HLA/Platelet Serology laboratories, and Community Education
Program (including the SBB school) at the Red Cross.
His research was mainly concerned with immune red cell and platelet
destruction. He published more than 300 papers, was co-author
of three textbooks, and editor of six textbooks. He was on
several national committees, including the Standards, Annual Meeting,
and Awards Committees of the American Association of Blood Banks
(AABB), and was an Associate Editor of Transfusion. In 1985 he was
President of the California Blood Bank Society (CBBS). He also
represented North America on the International Society of Blood
Transfusion Council.
He received numerous State, National, and International awards, and is fondly remembered for his mentorship, generosity and numerous contributions to the fields of immunohematology and transfusion medicine.

Federico
Rodriguez, MT(ASCP)SBB is Technical Director of the Stem
Cell Processing Laboratory for Blood Systems Laboratories (BSL) in
Tempe, AZ. He has been working in the Blood Bank, Immunohematology
and Cellular Therapy fields since 1987. He earned his BS in Medical
Technology from the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon in Monterrey,
Mexico, and, after working several years in a hospital-based blood
bank decided to earn his SBB from the University of Texas Medical
Branch in Galveston, TX. He is an active member of the AABB and ISCT
and participates as a member in several committees within these organizations;
he is also a FACT assessor. Federico serves as a mentor and lecturer
for SBB students and really enjoys working with them. |

Jean Stanley, MT (ASCP)SBB CQA ASQ, is an active member of AABB where she participates on various committees. In addition Jean has served on the board of directors for California Blood Bank Society (CBBS) and is a past president. Jean has been active in providing continuing education in the field of transfusion medicine for over 20 years. |
Roger
Svoboda, MS, MBA, MT(ASCP)SBB, is COO/Executive VP, Blood
Centers of the Pacific. Originally from Washington State, Roger holds
a Master’s Degree in Clinical Science from San Francisco State
University and an MBA from San Jose State University. A former regional
CEO with the American Red Cross Blood Services, Roger has spent over
30 years in blood banking which included development and expansion
of the Stanford Medical School Blood Center. He has served as the
President of the American Association of Blood Banks and the California
Blood Banking Society and on the Board of the National Blood Data
Resource Center. |
